Yep, me and my dad do things a little different. We do the really extra cool things like takin’ those bike moguls quite a bit faster and we don’t shy away from the steeper hills, we challenge them and THAT is way Rhu-Cool. We explore uncharted lands like two explorers discovering a new world…Okay, well, maybe I exaggerated a little there but I like to pretend we are going on great journey’s when I’m in my cart and dad’s pushin’!
Now there are plenty of moments that dad can get pretty warm and fuzzy too. Sometimes when I least expect it, but usually in the evening, he gets down on the floor next to me and “spoons” with me, softly patting my head or rubbing my ears and I LOVE my ears to be rubbed. I just close my eyes and quickly drift off to dreamsville until I hear, dad’s cry in the sky…ICE Cream!! At first I try to pretend I’m still asleep but dad says I give it away with my one eye that pops open as the freezer door closes. Then my one ear goes up…WAY up! That darn ear didn’t use to do that! Must be those chiropractic adjustments… Hmmm, I don’t know except it’s gotten harder and harder to keep my cool, nonchalant attitude in check. Once I know that they know, well why not just go into a full dog-beg! Milk it Rhu, milk it!
Now where was I? Oh yeah, my cool dad and his ice cream of which he only gives me the tip of the spoons’ worth but since I don’t understand portions, I’m good with that. Besides it’s more sharing that moment with JUST my dad. Mom tries it and I don’t ever turn down a treat but it’s NOT the same as when dad does it.
Where I still have him fooled is if he takes me out to go potty. I’ve got this thing wired…He stands there and stands there and STANDS THERE while I lay innocently sniffing the air, looking around, watching the squirrels go by, oops here comes a cat, hey here comes Walter the Beagle! We gotta say hi to Walter! Well by this time 45 minutes have gone by! Have I gone potty? Nope. Finally he gives up and takes me back inside where in just a few minutes I start air barking again! Better go back!!
From the vantage point of my cart, dad at the helm, great moments just seem to happen. Though getting noticed is an understatement, sometimes these moments are more touching than others especially when we meet up with other “guy-guys”…you know, the sports-crazed, testosterone driven guys…they’ve got their beer in one hand and the remote in the other; Yep, these toughies spend a few moments with me & my dad and they’re pulling that jersey number off those sleeves and replacing it with their hearts instead. Rhu-Hoo!!!! Way to go guys!! The game will still be on when you get home or at least on your DVR!
I hope every dad on the planet whether you’re the rough and tumble sports-crazed fanatic or a super softie has the most awesome Father’s Day EVER!!!
In case you wondered, paws down, I do have THE BEST DAD anywhere on the planet!
