Lucky for me mom & dad aren't into that stuff either so we just got up on New Years Day shared a couple treats, mom got her hot chocolate goin’ and dad had some coffee, added a couple of pastries and turned on the Rose Parade. Yep, we're good to go!
Mom keeps glancing down at me, smiles, then looks back up at the parade. I love it when she checks on me.
Speaking of the parade…Omg!! I just saw two floats go by and they were carrying a group of very brave dogs called “Dogs for Defense” & “Canines with Courage”. These are dogs that serve our country just like the other soldiers. We are so fortunate to have these brave creatures whose only mission is to give...no thought of what they’ll get beyond a kind pat on the head. Wow, who says parades are boring!!! I should have been leading them in my cart!!
I got an extra taste of making some people happy over the holidays when I went to visit an elderly friend of mom and dads. Alan, who just turned 94 and is more enthusiastic than most 20 year old's along with all of his friends live at a beautiful assisted living facility. It was one of the most rewarding days of my life. Mom always says I am cute... but, seriously? Why, these people had mini melt-downs when I strutted through in my cart! The Ooh's and Aw's were coming at rapid speed! I hit Super-Rhu status in mere seconds...it was Rhu-hoo - SA-mokin' hot! I didn't even have my squeaky tennis ball - can you imagine if I did?
No doubt I have some of my greatest moments while in my cart. Mom says she’s jealous because all I have to do is shake my head & everything about my hairdo falls into the perfect spot. People pay some serious bucks to try and have the highlights that this pup’s got! Combine that with my cart and there's no better people magnet!
BTW, I just seem to go faster & farther every time I go out in my cart now and it NEVER gets old.
Every single day is a new adventure. You know... if we could only approach more moments of our lives in this way, we could perhaps miniaturize some of those mountain peaks we struggle to climb… Maybe if we could approach it in a step by step fashion, we could climb to the top of each of those difficult moments...getting a fresh new perspective… the vantage point from the mountain top is always so much clearer. That's what I tell other dogs when I'm in my cart...above them...waggin by and squeaking my ball!! I also make sure mom's pushin' me to her greatest ability and not sloughing off!! You know, so I look good 'n all. But in all seriousness, we all witnessed in December, that life is extremely precious and extremely fragile… Be thankful for every moment…then share that attitude with someone else, they’ll carry that kind moment with them throughout the rest of their day... perhaps even their life... Try it sometime - I do daily.
To all of you, I wish you a very Happy New Year! Rhu-tin-Tootin' Rhu.
